South Lanarkshire Leisure joined the national junior strategy, clubgolf, in 2004. A South Lanarkshire Junior Golf Strategy was initiated in 2005. The aim of the strategy was to give every nine year old child in South Lanarkshire the opportunity to experience golf in primary schools, and pathways would be in place for children to attend local structured coaching at golf clubs and take up a sport they can play for life.

Every year approximately 6000 primary five pupils will be given an introduction to golf in most South Lanarkshire Primary Schools via the firstclubgolf programme. This programme is designed as a fun, safe, exciting introduction to golf using colourful plastic clubs, small tennis balls and a range of Velcro targets.

Each child who participates in the firstclubgolf programme in schools will be given the opportunity to attend a nearby golf club and enrol in the clubgolf coaching programme.

There are now over sixty qualified PGA coaches in the area who deliver clubgolf Level 1 and 2 coaching at nearby golf clubs. Every child who attends will be given the opportunity to reach the best of their ability.

South Lanarkshire Leisure development classes

South Lanarkshire Leisure offers a selection of golf coaching delivered by PGA Professionals at venues across the region.

Juniors

We provide one week blocks of golf coaching during the Easter and summer holidays for juniors (under 16's).

Adults

We provide four, four week blocks of group coaching during the golf season for beginners, improvers, or ladies only at Torrance House and Hollandbush Golf courses.
