South Lanarkshire Leisure provides athletics, ranging from running and javelin, to hurdles and long jump, for both children and adults. Coaching is available to all schools and is delivered by fully qualified UKA coaches. Many of the coaches are, or have been, international athletes in their careers.

Schools Athletics
There is a full range of activities available to schools in South Lanarkshire. The primary programme runs from September through until June each year and is open to pupils in P6 and P7.
September to February Sports-Hall Athletics (team event)
March cross-country (individual and team event)
May & June track championships (individual and relay events)
In each of the disciplines the athletes and teams have the opportunity to compete at both area and regional competitions.
Children's athletics clubs
There are a number of clubs run throughout South Lanarkshire that cater for local community athletes who attend the local primary schools.
The clubs are held in local school or leisure centre halls.The clubs are open to P1-P3 for the first hour and P4-P7 for the second hour. The focus of these sessions is helping the athletes gain fitness, agility and skills that can be transferred to all sports, from football to hockey.
