Coach recruitment and development

Recruitment – ensure that there are robust recruitment procedures in place, for casual and sessional staff.

Development – undertake induction training of coaches working within Sports Development.

Coach and volunteer support

Mentoring – a positive way to support coaches at all levels, from grass roots upwards by placing them with a recognised experienced coach in order to support and guide any standard of coach.

Scholarship – available to a wide range of coaches whether paid or voluntary, to provide financial support where possible to assist the coach to mainly undertake relevant National Governing Body awards.

Coach education – in order to support the volunteer clubs and coaches, we aim to provide guidance and opportunity to undertake NGB awards and therefore strive to produce an up-to-date and relevant Coach Education calendar of courses available throughout South Lanarkshire.

Coach of The Year – looking forward and working closely with the local Sports Councils, we hope to develop a series of Coach Recognition awards for coaches of all ages and backgrounds. This may also include the work of the club volunteer who doesn’t coach.
