Essential road improvement works will be carried out on West Mains Road as part of our £126million roads investment programme.
The resurfacing project will kick off on Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 February when the road will be closed between Kirktonholme Road and Kittoch Street.
That part of West Mains Road will be reopened again by the morning of Monday 27 February at which point a closure will be implemented on the next section between Kirktonholme Road and Churchill Avenue. This second phase of works is scheduled to be complete by Friday 3 March.
A diversion route via the Queensway and Churchill Avenue will be clearly signed.
Councillor Chris Thompson, the chair of the council’s Enterprise Services Committee, said: “These works are essential to improve the road surface on a longer-term basis and can’t unfortunately be carried out without some inconvenience to road users.
“We would ask that anyone travelling in this area during the times mentioned pays particular attention to the diversion route which will be clearly signposted.
“It may also be helpful for road users to leave extra time for their journeys.
“Every effort will be made to complete these improvements as early as possible to allow the road to be reopened.”
