Drivers are being advised of delays in Burnbank area of Hamilton while SGN undertakes gas network upgrade programme.

Following discussions with the council, SGN will start work on Monday 18 September which is scheduled to last for approximately 14 weeks.

The essential £300,000 upgrade to the gas network along Burnbank Road is part of a wider ongoing project in Hamilton involving the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe which has a minimum lifespan of 80 years and will ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the area.

The work will begin in Burnbank Road at its junction with Yews Crescent. Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place in Burnbank Road when required, moving along the eastbound carriageway as work progresses. The lights will ensure traffic can flow past the work area safely and will be manually controlled to minimise disruption to motorists. During the project the other streets involved will be Yews Crescent, Dalziel Street, Linden Lea and Linwood Terrace.
