A total of 18 new homes are to be built at the site of the former Lanark Baths.
At a meeting of the council’s Planning Committee, approval was given for three new blocks of three-storey amenity standard social housing flats in South Vennel, Lanark.
Construction of the homes will begin towards the end of 2017 and they should be completed within one year of the start date.
Councillor Josh Wilson, the chair of the Housing and Technical Resources Committee, said: “I am delighted that approval was agreed for these new homes.
“It is a much needed and very welcome addition to social housing provision in the Lanark area and is part of the council’s commitment to build new homes throughout South Lanarkshire, delivering 1000 new homes by 2021/2022.”
And the Executive Director of Housing and Technical Resources, Daniel Lowe, added: “This latest development in Lanark, providing 8 two bedroom and 10 one bedroom amenity flats, is part of our Home+ programme and will bring suitable, affordable and sustainable homes to the area.”
