A package of training workshops has been unveiled to ensure local food and drink businesses are prepared for major trade fair.

'Showcasing Scotland – West' takes place on Wednesday 7 March 2018 at Hampden Park in Glasgow and is the first in a series of one day 'meet the buyer' regional events.

The event aims to help grow the sales of the food and drink sector within South Lanarkshire and the West by bringing together local businesses with regional buyers.

South Lanarkshire Council are working in partnership with industry leadership organisation, Scotland Food & Drink, to support the growing food and drink sector in the West of Scotland as a project partner of ‘Showcasing Scotland – West’.

The events are also supported by the Scottish Government food and drink advisory service, Connect Local, which will provide a series of free workshops for businesses across the region to develop commercial capabilities ahead of the event.

A recent survey conducted by Scotland Food & Drink found that 68% of consumers said they value local sourcing and almost half said that they plan to buy more local food and drink in the future.
