More than 350 young instrumentalists and vocalists took to the stage recently to stage our annual musical extravaganza.
The Instrumental Music Showcase, now in its sixth year, celebrates the exceptional talent and musical excellence that is nurtured across the area’s secondary schools.
No less than 24 ensembles and musical acts were showcased, including a guest performance by St Mary’s Primary School (Hamilton) which opened the second half with the entire P6 class singing a Jungle Book Medley.
The Town House was not only packed with audience members and young performers, it was also packed with community spirit and camaraderie! Instead of reliving the ‘Beast from the East’, our young musicians and their teachers presented the ‘Best from the West’!
Councillor Katy Loudon, the chair of the council’s Education Resources Committee, said: “This year’s showcase has once again profiled and celebrated the exceptional standard of young musicians and musical excellence nurtured in our schools.
"It is hugely impressive and inspiring to see and hear such sector-leading musical performances. Many congratulations to all the young musicians and their educators.”
