Road workers resurfacing road

A section of Neilsland Road in Hamilton will be closed to traffic next week to allow for essential resurfacing works.

To ensure the work is carried out safely, the section, between Laighstonehall Road and Neilsland Square, will have to be closed to traffic in both directions from 6am on Monday 16 until 11pm on Friday 20.

A diversion route will be in force and will follow Laighstonehall Road, Chantinghall Road, Mill Road, Strathaven Road, Annsfield Road and Meikle Earnock Road.

Additional work will also be carried out between Neilsland Square and Buchan St. This section will not be closed but will be carried out under traffic control from Sunday 22 until Friday 27.

Due to the length of road being resurfaced, work will be done in sections in a bid to minimise disruption.

The work is also weather dependant so times may alter.

Councillor Chris Thompson, the chair of the council's Enterprise Resources Committee, said: "We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these vital works may cause.

"I would ask that anyone using the area takes note of the restrictions in place, follows the appropriate diversion and leaves extra time for their journey."
