A specially commissioned flag will be flown on Saturday 30 June to mark Armed Forces Day.

The raising of the Flag Service will start at 9.50am and will fly outside Council Headquarters, Almada St, Hamilton, until Friday 6 July as part of the week long celebrations.

This is to raise public awareness of the vital role that the Armed Forces play in maintaining the security and well-being of the country.

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to do two things:

  • raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces
  • give the nation an opportunity to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community - from currently serving troops and Service families to veterans and cadets.

It is hoped as many people as possible will come along to mark this special occasion and support our armed forces.

Please go to the Armed Forces Day website for more information about the national event.
