Resurfacing work all set for Uddingston

Major resurfacing work gets underway this weekend along Bellshill Rd, including a section of Main St at the Cross, Uddingston.
The works will begin on July 21 and are expected to last until July 29.
Phase one will be from 6am on Saturday July 21 to 8pm on Sunday July 22.
Bellshill Road will be closed from Old Glasgow Rd to Wilkie Rd, and Main St will be closed for approx 50m either side if Bellshill Rd.
No through traffic will be permitted along Bellshill Road and Main Street during the works although local access will be maintained.
A diversion route will be in place from 6am on Saturday July 21 to 8pm on Sunday July 22, with traffic travelling on Main Street turning along Lower Millgate, North British Road, Crofthead Road, Bellshill Road, Wilkie Road, Hornal Road then back onto Main Street. Traffic travelling in the opposite direction should follow the diversion vice versa.
Phase two will be from 8pm on Sunday July 22 to 11pm on Sunday July 29. Bellshill Road will be closed from Main St to Wilkie Rd.

Councillor Chris Thompson, the chair of the council's Enterprise Resources Committee, said: "We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause.
"We have carefully programmed them to take place during the school summer holiday period when traffic flows are lower. This will hopefully reduce the impact on road users, businesses and residents.
"I would ask that people try to avoid the area in question on the dates provided but if they cannot that they leave a little longer for their journey."
