Residents of all ages and abilities are being urged to tune in to a wide range of music courses this autumn.

And whether you want to be behind the scenes writing or up front performing there is something for everyone.

Expert tuition in small, friendly classes is being offered in guitar and drums at Rutherglen Town Hall and guitar, drums and keyboard at the Town House, Hamilton. Places are available in three age-groups: 8-12; 12-17 and adults, and all abilities are catered for.

Courses - costing £41 (£31 concession) - kick off from Monday 17 September and run for 10 weeks. You can secure a place and find out more by calling Rutherglen Town Hall on 0141 613 5700 or the Town House, Hamilton on 01698 452299.

Also returning for the Autumn season is the hugely-popular Songwriting course staged at East Kilbride Arts Centre.

Young people aged 12-17 are invited to join a team of music industry specialist songwriters and musicians in an exciting 10-week programme.

Open to anyone who writes their own lyrics, sings or plays an instrument, the course is an ideal chance to learn about song-writing, composition and arranging music whilst picking up hints and tips from their peers.

And, it all culminates in a performance at the East Kilbride Arts Centre, using professional sound and lighting equipment, to showcase the talents of those involved.

The course runs on Mondays from 17 September to 3 December at either 5-6.30pm or 7-8.30pm. The cost is just £45 / £35 (concession) and places are filling up fast. Call 01355 261000 to get in on the act.
