Sports Hub launched in Biggar
Published Monday, 10 September 2012
Biggar Sports Centre has played host to the launch of a new Sports Hub in the local community.
More than 350 people came along and enjoyed free sports taster sessions, a portable climbing wall, information stalls and there was even face painting and a bouncy castle for the younger participants.
Community sports hubs are funded by Sportscotland as part of the Commonwealth Games legacy and are home to sports clubs and organisations based in existing facilities such as sport centres, community centres, the natural environment and schools.
Sports Hubs aim to join local people and organisations together and provide information, support and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities to make it easier for everyone to get involved and engage in a more active and healthier lifestyle.
