Roadworks planned for the A72, or the Clyde Valley Road as it is known locally, have been postponed.

The improvement works which were due to last from Tuesday 25 September until Friday 12 October have been postponed to give a longer lead in period to help businesses and residents plan ahead for the unavoidable disruption which will be caused.

It will also allow further consultation to take place with business groups in order to find more suitable dates for the work.

There is no doubt that the A72 Clyde Valley Road is a very challenging road to maintain - mainly due to its layout and the underlying soil conditions.

Major maintenance works are required from time to time to safeguard the future use of this road. These works will inevitably require road closures.

Businesses, residents and the wider motoring public can be assured that when the postponed works have been rescheduled these works will be publicised well in advance by the council.
