A free youth event at Hamilton Racecourse is taking place next week during the October school holiday.

Building on the success of last year's Half Term Hullabaloo, the event on Tuesday 16 from 1-4pm is completely free and open to all.

Numerous fun and exciting activities are planned including live bands from across South Lanarkshire, a climbing wall, American Football, archery, O2 experts, i-Bar, Skateboard ramps and tuition, street basketball, Graffiti art,  Laser Quest, Falconry,  Mine Craft and much more.

There will also be a raffle on the day with big prizes such as the new PlayStation Vita.

As well as all the fun and entertainment, there will be stalls offering beauty treatments, table top gaming, gruesome body art, and t-shirt printing.

In addition to this on the day, there will also be the opportunity to get reward points for your National Entitlement/Young Scot card.

Councillor Davie McLachlan, the council's Spokesperson for Youth, said: "The event last year was a huge success and this year's looks set to be even bigger and better.

"I would encourage young people from all over South Lanarkshire to come for a look round, try out some new activities and more importantly find out about the work the council is doing for our young people."

Hosted by the council's Youth Learning Services and South Lanarkshire Youth Council, the day will  also see the launch of the Youth Action Plan, outlining the commitment the council and its partners have given to young people in South Lanarkshire as well as the signing of the SeeMe pledge in support of the anti stigma mental health campaign.
