Final draft for sustainable development

A final draft of the council's Sustainable Development Strategy 2012 to 2017 is now available.
Councillors at the Executive Committee were given an update on the progress of the draft which highlights the actions the council has been taking to improve its own environmental performance.
The final draft follows a consultation taken earlier in the year with more than 800 responses from local residents whose feedback, on the whole, was very positive with more than 90% agreeing with the plans set out in the strategy.
Leader of South Lanarkshire Council, Councillor Eddie McAvoy, said: "We are committed to maintaining and improving the quality of life in our area for our present and future communities and contribute to the protection of the planet."
