A unique home school safety programme has been applauded by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
Based around a comic-style quiz book, the 'Home Safety Cadets' programme for primary three pupils was designed specifically to consolidate work already being done in the classroom to teach children about the potential dangers lurking around the home and school.
Ann Browning, the council's Home Safety Officer, who devised the programme, gave a key note speech about it at the prestigious 2010 RoSPA Home Safety Conference held in Glasgow recently.
Throughout the school year Ann visits the council's 124 primary schools to spread the home safety message to 7-8 year-olds.
