In partnership with NHS Lanarkshire, SLLC develop and deliver a variety of Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing programmes and interventions for the residents of South Lanarkshire. These include the long term condition programme ‘Active Health’, ‘The Physical Activity Prescription’ (PAPs) referral pathway and our adult weight management intervention ‘Weigh To Go’. These programme have seen 3361 new participants enrolled into these programmes in 2021/22.

In partnership with NHS Lanarkshire, SLLC’s  ‘Physical Activity Prescription’ (PAP) is a partnership referral pathway. It enables GPs, practice nurses, physiotherapists and wider allied health professionals to refer patients who would benefit from being more physically active. The benefits can be both physical and psychological.

In 2021/2022 SLLC received 2378 referrals. Mental Health was the number one reason for referral in 2021/2022, closely followed by musculoskeletal, general fitness and weight loss. Residents from SIMD 1&2 make up 56% of those referred.

SLLC and our NHS partners will continue to develop this pathway further to achieve improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities for South Lanarkshire residents.
