If you go down to the woods today you're in for some Hallowe'en fun

South Lanarkshire’s parks will provide the backdrop for some spooky goings-on this Hallowe’en weekend.
First up, Chatelherault is set to host two sessions of ‘spooky storytelling’ on Sunday, October 30, just in time to get the wee ones in the mood for trick-or-treating fun.
The Folksy Theatre group will take centre stage for these (mildly) terrifying tales, suitable for children aged three-nine years old. They’ll be helped by some fantastic puppets while the young audience enjoys a themed picnic box.
Even the adults aren’t left out, with tea/coffee and cake to enjoy during the performance.
A few tickets, costing £10 per child and £2.50 per adult, remain for each session – at 11 am and 2 pm - and are available directly from the venue on 01698 426213.
Adult tickets are restricted to one per booking for space reasons. Meanwhile, on Hallowe’en itself, the libraries team will lead two of the ever-popular ‘bookbug’ sessions in the great outdoors at Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride and Overtoun Park in Rutherglen (pictured below).
‘Spookbug in the Park’ is free to all who want to take part, with adults and children asked to come along in their scariest costumes – but to be prepared for the even scarier Scottish weather.
The Calderglen Park event runs from 11-11:30 am with the meeting point next to the picnic area, while those coming to Overtoun Park should be there for a 1:30 pm start. The events promise all the fun of bookbug but with some scary songs and rhymes thrown in, just right for the under-fives.
