Arts development

The Arts Development Section aims to make arts more accessible to the local community.

We provide courses, projects, workshops and master classes as well as one-off activities and events. This includes theme days, summer schools, concerts and annual festivals such as 'Young at Heart'.

Art courses

Our programme of arts classes is designed to accommodate all needs, ages and abilities. Courses mostly run in four terms, commencing August, October, January and April. However at East Kilbride Arts Centre course terms commence in August, January and April.

The Arts Development Team regularly work with national arts companies to provide outreach programmes. These support the events and performances within the venues.

Further information is available in our arts development brochure and in the ACE children's activities programmes.

Community projects

We work with local organisations and groups on community-based projects. We provide advice and support with training, preparing constitutions, accessing funding and developing projects.

The Arts Development team has successfully attracted external funding. Funding sources have included:

  • Heritage Lottery Fund
  • Creative Scotland
  • The Youth Music Initiative
  • The Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts
