Touch Down for JagTag in East Kilbride

Touch Down for JagTag in East Kilbride

The East Kilbride Active Schools team has recently paired up with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the East Kilbride Pirates to launch the grassroots game of “JagTag”. This is a modified version of American Football which was created by The Jacksonville Jaguars to help teach school aged pupils the basic techniques of the game in a fun and exciting way.

Over 190 pupils from Secondary Schools in East Kilbride and Strathaven took part in a JagTag festival delivered by the UK based Jaguars grassroots team and coaches and players from the East Kilbride Pirates American Football team at Duncanrig Secondary School. They provided a brilliant event with lots of fun activities, prize giveaways and a visit from their mascot Union Jaxon.

Ryan Moore, Grassroots & Marketing manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars; has said he is very excited to help launch this programme in Scotland and is looking forward to inviting pupils to Wembley to watch The Jacksonville Jaguars in action this November.

The East Kilbride Active Schools team are looking forward to building on the excitement from the event with Teacher/Coach training workshops planned for the future, providing equipment to schools, Primary school provision and helping embed JagTag in the school’s curricular and extra-curricular programmes.
