Proposed re-alignment of catchment area of Underbank Primary School

Proposed re-alignment of catchment area of Underbank Primary School | South Lanarkshire Council
ConsultationProposed re-alignment of catchment area of Underbank Primary School
Consultation summaryProposal to re-align catchment area of Underbank Primary School to incorporate Carfin Estate development with planning permission (currently in Braidwood Primary School catchment)
BackgroundUnderbank Primary School is part of the Council’s Primary Schools Modernisation Programme and was scheduled to be rebuilt in 2014. The school roll is currently 106 pupils and is predicted to be 103 in 2017/18. It is proposed to provide a 5 classroom school. The school is located south of the village of Crossford, adjacent to the Lanark Road.
Why are we consulting?Prior to detailed design commencing, an appraisal of the existing site was undertaken which concluded that there is insufficient land within the existing site to meet the Council’s modernisation specifications in terms of accommodation, external play areas and car parking for this establishment and to provide the necessary site size to meet the legislative requirements of the School Premises (General Requirements and Standards) (Scotland) Regulation 1967.
