Savings 2016-17 Financial Contribution to Non Residential Care Services
Title | Savings 2016-17 Financial Contribution to Non Residential Care Services |
---|---|
Council Resource | Social Work |
Service Area | Social Work |
Aims and Objectives | Increase the percentage taper applied to non-residential care services by 5% from 55% to 60%. Increasing the taper to 60% will bring South Lanarkshire more in line with the taper applied by other Local Authorities. There are currently 8 other Councils that have a percentage taper of 60% or above applied to non-residential care services. |
Conclusion | The percentage increase in the taper from 55% to 60% will be applied to all service users consistently. The charging policy is based on ability to pay. The maximum impact on service users will be capped at £8 per week. Every service user will be advised that they can request a review of their contribution towards their care services. A review will be undertaken. Where appropriate, the Executive Director (Social Work Resources) can waive or abate a charge on the grounds of financial hardship. |
