TitleFinancial savings 2020-21 - Employee overall impact assessment
Council ResourceFinance and Corporate
Service AreaCouncil Wide
Aims and ObjectivesAs part of the Councils annual savings exercise, efficiencies are sought through a range of methods including a reduction in staffing where appropriate. This has so far fallen short of compulsory redundancies and have been achieved through non filling of vacancies, redeployment, removal of temporary posts, voluntary severance and early retirement as per the Councils collective agreement.
ConclusionThe Council is required to review and assess services to ensure that it can deliver efficient effective and accessible services. This will inevitably lead to changes that will affect the workforce. The Council will consult fully with those likely to be affected so as to minimise any identified adverse affect regardless of protected characteristic.

The Councils package of savings proposals for the year ahead are subject to consultation and individual impact assessment. Where adverse impact has been identified, steps will be taken to limit the effect on protected groups.

The conclusion of this equality impact assessment is that there may be an impact on the female part of the workforce covered by equalities legislation, or on workforce relations, however, the proposals are in line with the Councils collective agreement and therefore identify efficiencies through non filling of vacancies, removal of temporary posts and where individuals are eligible for early retirement, voluntary redundancy or redeployment. As such steps are in place to mitigate any negative impact.
