Community Justice Partnership Communication and Engagement Strategy 2022-2025

Community Justice Partnership Communication and Engagement Strategy 2022-2025 | South Lanarkshire Council
TitleCommunity Justice Partnership Communication and Engagement Strategy 2022-2025
Council ResourceSocial Work
Service AreaPerformance and Support Services
Aims and ObjectivesThe South Lanarkshire Community Justice Partnership was created in response to the Community Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 Act and is now firmly established within the Council's robust Community Planning arrangements and reports directly to the Safer South Lanarkshire Board, one of five themes within the current community planning arrangements.

Effective communication and engagement is integral and essential for all our residents and partners to understand what it is we do, so that people can have their voices heard and influence decisions. The partnership recognises that is important that all residents and key stakeholders have the opportunity to be involved in the decisions that affect them and their communities and that they deserve good quality services which are shaped around their particular needs. The strategy sets out how the Partnership will communicate and engage with the wide range of audiences that have an interest, or say, in what we do to ensure we deliver the best possible services.

It also explains the messages we want to give, and the various ways in how we intend to reach and engage with individuals, communities and our partners as it is important that we communicate the challenges, decisions and future changes in the most effective, inclusive and timely ways possible. The strategy which covers a three-year period sets out:

1. Our key communication messages, methods and evaluation,
2. How we will engage with our stakeholders, including those identified as the hardest to reach.

In developing the strategy, engagement was held with key partners and stakeholders with individual sessions held with frontline managers for Justice Social Work also key third sector partners. There will be ongoing consultation with local residents and community groups through community planning pathways throughout the duration of the strategy.
ConclusionAt this time The Community Justice Partnership Communication and Engagement Strategy 2022-2025 does not have a negative impact on any group. However, through monitoring and the annual review of the strategy we will assess to ensure mitigating actions are identified as and where appropriate for relevant equality groups.

The Community Justice Partnership has a key role in delivering on the strategic action plan and through regular reporting on a quarterly/annual basis, will be monitored through the Community Justice Partnership's performance framework and reported to Community Justice Scotland annually through their national activity update reports.

The partnership will on an ongoing basis assessing the services it provides to ensure it meets the needs of the community it is serving, in an efficient, effective and accessible way within available budget.

Over the next three years, the Community Justice Partnership will endeavour to further strengthen its work with its statutory and non statutory partners in the context of strategic planning for communicating and engaging with the people of South Lanarkshire to help in reducing offending. In making any changes, the partnership will continue to consult fully with the community in order to minimise any adverse impact of change and to identify any actions which can mitigate negative impact and it will do so together with its partners.

The conclusion of this equality impact assessment is that having identified key areas of work through the 9 national outcomes with some parts of the community covered by equalities legislation namely, adults, older people, children and people with disabilities, or on community relations, work must be undertaken to support and meet the needs of our communities and service users and therefore mitigating actions will be outlined in individual assessments as required, that will protect the most vulnerable in our communities and ensure that the services of the partnership are delivered in a fair, equal and accessible manner will assess the services it provides to ensure that it is meeting the needs of the community it is serving, in an efficient, effective and accessible way within its available budget.

Over the next three years, the IJB will endeavour to further strengthen its work with the Locality Planning Groups in the context of operational delivery of integrated health and social care services for the people of South Lanarkshire and this will be reflected with Locality Plans.
