Money advice for pregnant and new mums
Money Matters runs a confidential advice line for pregnant women and families with young children.
When you call you will be offered a full welfare benefit and Universal Credit check to assess your income as well as information and advice on how to make claims if applicable.
People with growing families often find they are worried about how to make ends meet or how to cope with rising debts. We give advice on how to maximize your income and minimize your outgoings and if needed refer you to the appropriate service, regarding paying bills and debts.
Sometimes advice over the phone isn't enough and you may prefer to speak to an adviser in person. Maybe you need someone to help you fill in forms, represent you at an appeal or a tribunal or negotiate with creditors? If you phone and the adviser thinks it would be better for you to come in to see someone face-to-face they can make an appointment for you.
All calls to the service are treated in the strictest confidence - you don't even have to give your name.
Please call any of the numbers on the right. If our advisor is unable to take your call, please leave your name and number and we will call you back as soon as possible.
All pregnant women are entitled to Healthy Start vitamins, but if you are pregnant, a new mum or have children under four and are receiving certain benefits, you may be entitled to Healthy Start vouchers. The vouchers can be exchanged for fresh or infant formula milk and for fresh or frozen vegetables. To find out more ask your health visitor/midwife or visit the Healthy Start website.
