South Lanarkshire budget consultation
Each year the council consults on its budget options with individuals and representative groups within the community and the workforce.
The results of the consultation are shared with all Elected Members to help inform their discussions as they work to agree on the budget for the following year.
This year's consultation has been extended into two stages. An initial consultation carried out between Monday 16 October and Friday 10 November 2023 sought views on the council’s priorities and its approach to setting the budget and also asked people to prioritise council services and give views on Council Tax. 2,114 of you took part and you can find the results below.
We will soon be looking for your views on 42 savings options that have been prepared by council officers for Elected Members to consider as they look to address a 2024-25 budget shortfall of £20.7 million. That shortfall follows a decade of funding squeezes on local authorities, and it means the council is being forced to consider reductions in the services it can afford to provide.
Our colleagues in South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are also consulting on their budget for next year. To take part in their survey view the SLLC budget consultation 2024-2025.
