School holidays

School holidays 2027/2028 (consultation)

We are asking for your views on proposed school term dates for the 2027 to 2028 school year. If you are a pupil, parent, carer, or a member of staff, you can take part. Your feedback will help us agree dates that support learning, family life and community needs.

Why your views matter

We set school term dates to balance different needs, including:

  • pupils’ learning and wellbeing
  • family routines and childcare arrangements
  • local events and public holidays

We must meet legal requirements. Where we can, we also try to align dates with nearby council areas to make things easier for families with children at different schools.

How we use your feedback

We review all responses before confirming the final calendar. Your feedback helps us:

  • understand what works well for families
  • identify any issues with the proposed dates
  • make changes where possible

Who can take part

You can take part if you are a:

  • pupil or young person
  • parent or carer
  • teacher or school staff member
  • resident with an interest in local schools

Take part in the survey

You can share your views by reviewing the proposed dates and completing our survey. The consultation closes on Friday 19 June 2026.
