Violence against Women and Girls Strategic Partnership in South Lanarkshire

Harassment and stalking: where to get help

Harassment or stalking is when someone keeps contacting you or watching you after you have asked them to stop, or when their behaviour makes you feel unsafe. This might be:

  • repeated calls, texts or emails
  • following you or waiting near your home, work or usual places
  • unwanted gifts or messages
  • threats or actions that cause fear or distress

It does not matter who the person is. What matters is how their behaviour affects you.

Get support and talk to someone

You can speak to trained staff who will listen, help you understand your options and support you to stay safe. You do not have to report anything unless you want to.

Reporting to the police

You can report harassment or stalking to Police Scotland.

  • call 101 if it is not an emergency
  • call 999 if you are in immediate danger

The police can explain what steps they can take and what support is available.

Take the next step

If something does not feel right, trust your instincts and reach out. Support is available, and you deserve to feel safe.
