Violence against Women and Girls Strategic Partnership in South Lanarkshire

Help if you are affected by commercial sexual exploitation

Commercial sexual exploitation is when someone is pressured, threatened or left with no real choice but to take part in sexual activities for money or other benefits. It is harmful and often linked to abuse, violence and control.

If this affects you, help is available. You do not have to cope on your own. You can speak to specialist services in Lanarkshire or Scotland in confidence and at your own pace. Support is free, and you do not need to report anything to get help.

What commercial sexual exploitation means

Commercial sexual exploitation can include prostitution, online sexual services, stripping or lap dancing, pornography, trafficking and sexual exploitation linked to travel or marriage. Many people affected are living on low incomes, dealing with addiction, or recovering from other forms of abuse. These situations are rarely a genuine choice.
