If you are using a personal Mac or iPad to work from home here are some instructions for using a microphone and camera.

When using Teams for the first time, you will get a dialog box asking you to allow Teams access to your microphone and camera.

Click OK on both occasions.

If they are not working,check your preferences as shown below.

Click on the Apple icon located at the top left hand side of the screen.

Click on Systems Preferences

or

Click on the Systems Preferences icon on the floating toolbar.

The Preferences screen is displayed.

Click on the Security & Privacy icon.

The Security & Privacy screen is displayed. Click on Camera. This will display all the apps that want access to your camera. Ensure there is a tick to the left of the Microsoft Teams app.

Repeat the process for microphone.

Checking your sound

Click on the Apple icon at the top left hand side of the screen.

Click on Systems Preferences.

Click on the Systems Preferences icon on the floating toolbar.

The Systems Preferences are displayed.

Click on the Sound icon.

The Sound Effects are displayed.

Click on the Input Tab.

The Internal Microphone is displayed. The Input Volume should be set to 100% - low input volume is one of the most common reasons your microphone isn’t working.

If you now speak close to your machine, you should see the Input level bars fill up.
