winner of 2018 Road Safety Calendar Competition

The winner of our 2018 Road Safety Calendar Competition is Ellie Glass of Gilmourton Primary School.

A total of 3,239 paintings were received from 111 schools across South Lanarkshire.

Ellie’s winning entry demonstrated a balance of excellent artwork with a clear and concise road safety message:

“Don’t Tweet When You Cross The Street!”

Outstanding entries were also selected with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in five groups. All the winning designs are on our 2018 road safety calendar pages.

In addition to the 16 prize winners, Highly Commended certificates were awarded to 250 pupils who submitted outstanding work.

Councillor Julia Marrs, the chair of the council’s Road Safety Forum, said: “I was honoured to have been part of the judging panel this year and it was a tough job. All the entries were of a very high standard, but Ellie’s was bold and eye catching and was a very worthy winner.

“Thanks and congratulations to all of the prize winners and schools who participated in our annual Road Safety Calendar Competition.”
