If you own or manage a business, Lanarkshire Business Week 2018 has something of interest for you – and all events are free.

Hosted by North and South Lanarkshire Councils, the event runs from 26 February to 2 March with an overall theme of Change.

Councillor John Anderson, South Lanarkshire Council's chair of the Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, said: “Lanarkshire Business Week is a tremendous opportunity for the business community to see the support both councils and other partners can offer them. We are determined to try and help businesses grow and there are a number of ways in which we can help them achieve this.

“The number and range of events taking place throughout the week reflects this, culminating of course in the Lanarkshire Business Awards.”

One of the other highlights of the week is the Lanarkshire Business Show at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on Tuesday 27 February. Over 120 companies will exhibit at the show, alongside seminars and networking sessions.

Then on Thursday 1 March, the Lanarkshire Business Conference takes place at the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, Blantyre. The theme for the day is Transformational Change. Broadcaster Nicky Marr will host the day’s discussions which include a keynote speech from Mark Beaumont, record-breaking long-distance British cyclist, adventurer, broadcaster, documentary maker and author.

Also speaking are: Susan A. Wilson, Principal Officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Edinburgh, on opportunities for trade with the USA; and Andrew Davies, Performance and Productivity Director for Lloyds Banking Group on the company’s approach to customer services for businesses.

Business Week finishes with the Business Excellence Awards on Friday 2 March in Motherwell Concert Hall. The occasion, this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, highlights the best in innovation, management and products across the business sector.

Councillor Allan Graham, Convener of North Lanarkshire Council's Enterprise and Housing Committee, said: “Lanarkshire Business Week is an excellent opportunity for all businesses – start-ups, growing and established companies – to meet others, learn about the latest developments and see practical ideas to help them grow. This year’s theme of Change impacts on everyone, as managing change effectively must be a crucial part of any business’s organisational planning to ensure continued success.

“The event has a host of workshops, events and networking sessions which we hope will be of interest to local businesses and they are all free of charge.”
