Our Justice Services team has hosted an employability day aimed at offering those on community payback a route back into work.
The employability awareness and networking event, held in the Auchentibber Resource Centre, Blantyre, featured 13 local employment and training providers including Remploy, South Lanarkshire College, Skills Exchange Scotland, Routes to Work South Lanarkshire, ASPIRE and Love Learning Scotland as well as a variety of voluntary organisations.
Around 30 people attended the event and found the experience ‘extremely valuable’.
Councillor John Bradley, the chair of the council's Social Work Resources, said: “The information and networking opportunities provided by this event will help to improve prospects both for employment and future training.
“The day also provided an excellent opportunity for the team to enhance their knowledge about local employability and training leads. We are hopeful that our links with partner agencies will continue to grow, which will in turn enable employability priorities to become embedded in our practices.”
