SGN will shortly begin its £26,139 project to upgrade the gas network in the Hall Place area of Lanark.
The essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply. The works will be carried out by SGNs main contractor, Kier Construction.
Following discussions with the council, the project will start on Monday 1 April and will last approximately three weeks. The work will be carried out over two phases to help minimise disruption:
Phase 1 – approximately 1 week
On Monday 1 April work starts in Kildare Road, opposite number one. Work will be carried out on the footpath. To ensure everyone’s safety this will require this section of the road to be closed with local diversions in place.
Phase 2 – approximately 2 weeks
From Monday 8 April, work will be in Kildare Road between St Leonard Street and Hall Place. To ensure everyone’s safety, temporary three-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction with Kildare Road and St Leonards Street. A road closure will also be in place in Kildare Road just after it’s junction with Hall Place. This means access to Hall Place and Tesco can only be reached from St Leonards Road. Local diversions will be in place to allow access to Hall Place and Tesco from another access road.
