Earth Hour 2019

We are once again supporting the WWF global campaign Earth Hour and have been awarded a ‘Super Local Authority’ badge.

Earth Hour is now the most recognised campaign in Scotland and is an ideal opportunity to show how our climate change actions matter at a national and international level. Every action enhances local and international efforts to reduce carbon emissions and increase sustainability.

Earth Hour takes place on Saturday 30 March 2019 at 8.30pm.

When we all come together for Earth Hour we stand up and raise awareness of the threat of climate change to our planet and nature. But when we all come together for Earth Hour, we create a strong voice that can change things for the better. We’re the first generation to know we are destroying our planet. And we could be the last that can do anything about it. Now is the time to act.

This year, individuals can choose to be a Voice for the Planet by making an Earth Hour pledge. By making small changes, together we can make a difference. Some ideas for pledges include:

  • Walk or cycle short journeys where possible
  • Use a reusable water bottle and coffee cup
  • Don’t waste food, and eat less meat
  • Cut down my use of single use plastics
  • Switch off for Earth Hour
