Community Efficiency Saving 2010/2011 - Rationalisation of accommodation charges - Equality Impact assessments

Title
Community Efficiency Saving 2010/2011 - Rationalisation of accommodation charges
Council Resource
Community and Enterprise
Service Area
Community Resources
Aims and Objectives
A review of the existing charges for internal accommodation spaces in community halls, primary and secondary schools to ensure consistent charges are applied across these areas and that our charges are in line with those applied in leisure facilities.

Conclusion
The standardisation of charging across council facilities may have an adverse effect on some equality target groups who are not covered by a concession arrangement in that the cost of accommodation may increase. However, the pricing policy does take into account the varying needs of voluntary and commercial organisations and is therefore less likely to effect vulnerable groups. This must be balanced against the requirement to provide a fairer, consistent and more equitable pricing policy, manage Council budgets effectively and achieve financial savings.
