EDR03 - Financial Savings 2024-2025 - Period Poverty (Flexibilities)
Council Resource
Education
Aims and Objectives
There is a legislative requirement to ensure that sanitary products are available free of charge for those who need them within schools and the wider community.
The spend over the last 2 years has been less than the funding awarded by the Scottish Government. This funding is now part of each council’s financial ‘flexibilities’ as agreed between the Scottish Government and COSLA. This is a saving of £0.080m.
Conclusion
The conclusion of this equality impact assessment is that no negative impact is anticipated for any of the groups covered by the protected characteristics.
Currently there is an underspend in this budget so we could manage a budget cut with minimal impact on young people.
