Reason for procession
Third event of Lanark Lanimer celebrations, held annually, Riders accompany the Lord Cornet as he rides to check further town boundaries on horseback. The riders close the event by visiting New Lanark Village for refreshments.

All riders muster at the large overflow car park above New Lanark

Riders leave car park for Lanark Cross via Braxfield Road, Wellgatehead, Delves Road, Delves Park and Castlegate. Possible hazards: side street junctions, Hyndford Road, Castlegate.

Riders stop at Lanark Cross for 'Safe Oot! Safe in!' then The Lord Cornet and Front Party lead all riders via High Street (North); right at top of High Street; into South Vennel; down and across Wellgatehead to Delves Road and on through Delves Park towards Mousemill Road via Castlegate; St Patrick's Road; Clydesholm Braes.

Rideout passes Sewage Works Road; across the A72 at Kirkfieldbank Braes (Police presence requested) then right into Mousemill Road.
1710 hours approx
The ride turns left beyond entrance to Sunnyside to canter up The Ditches towards Nemphlar, then onto Welldale Lane and along Hall Road to crossroads; then crossing to Nemphlar Moor Road. Riders exit at Lee Castle East Lodge, via Rothiesbank and Lockhartbank; then turn right and immediately left for Kirkfieldbank on Mousemill Road, with a stop at Sorisdale to check March Stone and take refreshment stop.

Riders leave Sorisdale then turn left onto A72, Kirkfieldbank Brae (Police presence requested) right at Sewage Works Road; on to St Patrick's Road; into Castlegate; turning right into bottom access to Delves Park.
Riders go up Delves Road and turn right at Wellgatehead; then right at the fork; to Braxfield Road; bearing left to Braxfield Nursery. They then go off road for about 40 minutes.

Riders proceed to Lanark Racecourse ( long shot car park) via fields adjacent to the Beeches and Hyndford Road, crossing Robiesland Road, via fields adjacent to Lanark Agricultural Centre via access to Hyndford Quarry and Hyndford Road, riders on field nearest Clyde below Hyndford House. Come out of fields for road crossing at gate beside Hyndford House gate house.

Arrival at Lanark Racecourse for Horse Chases.

Front party leave and all riders leave Country Park Car Park and head for New Lanark, turning left onto Hyndford Road and immediately right onto Robiesland Road; Robiesland Farm and the Lady Mary where the March Stone there is checked. The crossing from the car park A73 is the only main public road crossing for this last section of the rideout. (Police presence requested.)
The riders move onto a cross country field/path route and Lady Mary stopping at the Youngs leading to New Lanark, entering at Caithness Row.

Arrival of Rideout in New Lanark Village via fields and paths. Welcome, presentations and refreshments.
Riders dismount and horses have minders. All horses are corralled within Institute Boundary walls for the safety of the public.

Presentation of Loving Cup to Lanimer Queen-elect, followed by presentation for winners at Chases.
20:45 hours
Principals lead riders to New Lanark Car Park via Braxfield Row, Braxfield House, Hollow Park, Braxfield Road and New Lanark Road
21:10 hours
Riders disperse at New Lanark Car Park where horse boxes await.
