Consultation summary and backgroundThe council’s Housing Allocation Policy has been developed in accordance with the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987, as amended. The policy sets out how housing applications are prioritised and vacant council housing in South Lanarkshire is allocated.

The views expressed during the consultation will be taken into account in finalising the revised Housing Allocation Policy, which will be presented to Housing and Technical Resources Committee in September 2026 for approval.

The questions detailed within the consultative draft policy document are provided below. Views in relation to these questions are particularly welcome, along with any other comments in relation to the draft policy.
