| Consultation summary and background | South Lanarkshire Council has launched a Call for Ideas to help inform preparation of its next South Lanarkshire Council Local Development Plan (which will be known as LDP3). When adopted, the Plan will represent the Council’s spatial strategy over a 10-year period from 2028 to 2038 and will set out how land will be used and developed across the area. It will provide a long-term vision of how our places will change in the future, including where development should and should not happen. It will encourage sustainable growth in the right places. The Plan will also help communities thrive while protecting what matters most to them. |
| Why are we consulting? | The Call for Ideas falls into two separate parts. Firstly, you may wish to submit details of proposals for individual sites that you would like to be included in the Plan. Secondly you can submit ideas to us about specific policy matters and areas and places that you would like to see protected. Separate Call for Sites and Call for Ideas surveys are available for you to do this. A separate form should be used for each idea, issue or site. |

| How will findings be used? | Ideas, sites and comments received will be considered by the Council in preparing the Proposed Local Development Plan. Once the ideas, sites and comments have been assessed, Issues and Actions papers will be published around Spring 2027. These will include a summary of the ideas submitted and the Council’s response to these ideas, including any actions the Council will take moving towards the Proposed Local Development Plan. |
