Consultation on denominational primary school catchment areas in Hamilton
Education Resources would like your views on proposed changes to denominational primary school catchment areas in Hamilton. The changes are intended to balance pupil numbers more effectively and remove two areas where families can currently choose between denominational catchment schools.
The consultation closes on Friday 23 October 2026.
Proposed changes
We propose to:

change the catchment boundaries for St Mary’s Primary School, Hamilton and St Paul’s Primary School to help balance pupil numbers between the schools;

remove the area where families can currently choose either St Peter’s Primary School or St Mary’s Primary School, Hamilton as their denominational catchment school. Under the proposal, St Peter’s Primary School would become the denominational catchment school for this area; and

remove the area where families can currently choose either St Peter’s Primary School or Our Lady and St Anne’s Primary School as their denominational catchment school. Under the proposal, Our Lady and St Anne’s Primary School would become the denominational catchment school for this area.
