Expert Help

Get access to up to five days of fully funded, one-to-one consultancy support through our Expert Help programme, this has been designed to help South Lanarkshire businesses overcome challenges, build capability and achieve sustainable growth.

Whether you want to strengthen your finances, increase sales, improve your marketing, develop your workforce, adopt digital solutions, enhance energy efficiency or explore new markets, Expert Help connects you with experienced, approved consultants who can provide practical, tailored advice.

The programme is ideal for businesses looking to:

• deliver a new project
• develop new skills and expertise
• improve performance and productivity
• access specialist knowledge not available in-house
• plan for growth and future opportunities

There is no cost to your business, with the only investment being your time and commitment to working with the consultant.

Applications are submitted through Business Gateway Lanarkshire using a short two-page application form that outlines your project and the support required.

Applications are open until 31 March 2027, or earlier if available funding is fully committed.

You may be eligible if you:

• are a business or social enterprise based in and actively trading from South Lanarkshire
• are a pre-start business currently working with Business Gateway (support limited to two consultancy days)
• are a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise employing up to 250 people
• can demonstrate how the support will benefit your business and contribute to growth or development
• are up to date with Non-Domestic Rates or, if operating from home, Council Tax (or have an agreed repayment arrangement in place)
• operate legally and hold any licences, permits or permissions required for your activities

Who cannot apply?

Unfortunately, you are not eligible if:

• you have outstanding Non-Domestic Rates or Council Tax debts without an agreed repayment arrangement
• your business operates within the gambling or betting sector
• your business is primarily a drinking establishment that does not serve food
• your organisation is a credit union
