Community update

We want to let you know about a proposed new affordable housing development at Westwood Hill in East Kilbride and how you can get involved.

What is being proposed?

The council’s development partners have submitted a Planning Application Notice for new council homes at land along Westwood Hill, between Adelaide Road and Lickprivick Road.

The proposal includes:

  • affordable housing
  • play areas
  • landscaping
  • access road
  • parking areas
  • drainage infrastructure

Have your say – drop-in event

You are invited to attend a public drop-in event to learn more about the plans and give your feedback.

Date: Thursday 25 June 2026
Time: 2pm to 7pm
Location: Westwood Community Hall, G75 8ZU

You can drop in at any time during these hours.

At the event, you will be able to:

  • view initial layouts and designs
  • speak to the project team
  • share your comments and ideas

This event is part of the official pre-application consultation process. This means the council and its partners are gathering feedback before submitting a formal planning application. Your feedback will help shape the proposals before they are developed further.

If you cannot attend the event, you can still view the proposals online from 25 June 2026 and send your comments.

Send your comments to:

Deadline for comments: Thursday 9 July 2026. This allows your views to be considered before the next stage of the design.

Important information

  • comments sent at this stage are to the design team, not the planning authority.
  • if a planning application is later submitted, there will be a separate opportunity to make formal comments to the council.
  • a second public event is planned for 23 July 2026. This will show updated designs based on feedback from the first event.
