Connect2 Renewables Employability Initiative
Case study - John Bryson dairy farm
John Bryson and Sons dairy farm in Lesmahagow used the employability fund from the Connect2 Renewables initiative to give a new local recruit the best possible start.
How the fund helped
Farm manager William Bryson first heard about the funding support through a friend. Knowing a young local person who was looking for work, he applied for funding to help with the basics needed to begin a hands‑on role at the dairy.
The fund paid for:
- practical training
- protective clothing
- equipment needed for day‑to‑day work
This meant the trainee could start safely and confidently from day one.
A positive outcome for everyone
William says the funding support has made a real difference, especially during challenging times for the farming sector. He has quickly become a valued member of the team, working hard and proving to be reliable across all tasks on the farm.
