Birth Roots

Still a parent. Still your story.

Birth Roots is a dedicated support service for birth parents whose children have been adopted. We are here to offer support whenever you want or need it. You can talk to us, join group sessions, take part in activities, or simply spend time with people who understand what you are going through.

We are a warm and welcoming small team who will listen without judgement. You choose what feels right for you, and there is never any pressure.

What we offer

You can use Birth Roots in a way that suits your needs. Our support includes:

One‑to‑one support

A safe space to talk about how you feel, ask questions or explore what you need.

Group sessions

Friendly, small groups where you can take part in therapeutic activities. During our group sessions there is no expectation for birth parents to share their experiences, do what makes you feel comfortable.

Peer support

Time with people who have had similar experiences and can offer understanding and encouragement.

Help with letterbox contact

Support with writing, reading or understanding letterbox contact. We can help you manage the process and feel more confident.

Practical help

Guidance and support with day‑to‑day issues that may be affecting you, including where to get extra support.

Health and wellbeing

We can connect you with services that support your mental and emotional wellbeing.

Support with trauma and loss

Someone to talk to about grief, change and the impact adoption may have had on your life.
