Disabled person's parking bay

A disabled person's parking bay is an area marked on the road to show that the space has been reserved for a disabled person.

It is a boxed area with a yellow or white border and an international wheelchair symbol or the word 'Disabled'.

Parking bays cannot be provided on privately owned roads or grounds.

These marked areas are for blue badge holders who have a suitable car registered to someone in their household and who need to park close to their home. Parking bays are provided to help disabled drivers and passengers to access their vehicle from their home.  Applicants should not already have access to off street parking, such as a driveway, lock-up or garage or hard-standing area.

If circumstances change and the disabled persons parking bay is no longer required, you must notify the council immediately, so that it can be removed.

To request a disabled person's parking bay application form you should fill out our social work enquiry form or contact the local social work office for more information and to check what necessary supporting paperwork must be submitted.
