Road safety calendar competition
Every year we run a calendar competition, open to all schools in the area.
The winning painting is illustrated on the road safety calendar - 15,000 copies go to schools, offices, libraries, colleges, hospitals and council buildings.
All the winning designs are on our 2018 road safety calendar pages.
Invitations to take part are sent out to all schools along with guidelines. This year we received 3239 paintings from 111 schools. Head teachers send in the best five from each class. They are then reviewed by the Traffic and Transportation Section and placed into the five categories.
The final 16 entries are judged by a panel consisting of the members of the Traffic and Transportation Section, representatives from Education Resources and other partners in road safety. This year the judges were Councillor Julia Marrs, Chair of the Road Safety Forum; Road Safety Training Officer, Eleanor Gibson; John McQuade, Scottish Fire and Rescue; Cammy Paton, Police Scotland; Sarah Burrows, Public Relations; Omero Riccomini, Traffic Technician; Stuart Laird, Traffic and Transportation Team Leader; Linda Cunningham, Community Safety Partnership.
This year's Overall Winner, Ellie Glass, from Gilmourton Primary School, received her £100 prize money, full size A0 Calendar, Trophy and School Trophy at the Road Safety Forum.
