Our archives preserves the history of our area and helps you explore records about people, places and events. You can visit us to research your family history, learn about your home or community, or look into past council and government decisions.
What you can find
We keep unique records from the council and from earlier local authorities. We also hold material donated by local organisations, businesses and individuals.
Our collections include:
- council minutes and committee papers
- school records
- East Kilbride Development Corporation records
- business papers from solicitors, architects and local groups
These records help you understand how South Lanarkshire has grown and changed over time.
Visit or contact us
Everyone is welcome to use the Archive. Please book an appointment before you come in, as we cannot accept walk-in visits. Using the Archive is free.
You can browse our collections pages or search the national resource Your Scottish Archives. If you need help, our team is happy to assist by email, phone or letter.
