Find great days out across South Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire has a wide range of places to visit, whether you enjoy walking, wildlife, outdoor activities or local history. You can explore parks, nature reserves and scenic landscapes across both rural and urban areas. Many sites are free to visit and open all year round, making them easy places to get outside, relax or stay active.

In the north, near Glasgow, Cathkin Braes Local Nature Reserve offers wide views across the city along with trails for walking and mountain biking.

In Rutherglen, Cuningar Loop is a popular community greenspace with paths, play areas and facilities for outdoor activities.

To the east, near Eaglesham and Strathaven, Whitelee Wind Farm has a large network of paths for walking, cycling and horse riding. It is also a great spot for wildlife. The on-site Ranger Service runs guided walks and events throughout the year.
